Where to Stay | Family-Friendly Visitor's Guide to the Napa Valley

Planning An Overnight Trip to Napa Valley - Look No Further!

Part 2: Where to Stay!
Review by: Jasmine | Jet Set Travel Mom @jetsettravelmom

Now that we’ve covered a few kid friendly wineries to visit and some fun spots to dine in Part 1 of our guide to Napa, let’s talk about where to stay while in Napa.

This post originally appeared on The Family Travel Guy

With the current pandemic, it may still be a bit early for some to even think about an overnight hotel stay, but as curves flatten, stay at home orders are lifted, and businesses slowly begin to reopen, we can cautiously start planning for future travel.  A “new normal” is beginning to emerge within the travel industry.  For now travel is a matter of personal choice and some may feel comfortable traveling, while others want to continue to maintain a wait and see approach.  But just in case if you are planning an overnight stay in Napa, we’ve gotcha covered!  We’ve narrowed down some of our favorite hotels in the Napa area that are also kid friendly.

Andaz Napa
The Andaz Napa is a Hyatt brand hotel offering their take on the luxury boutique style of hotel accommodation in a five-story hotel located in the heart of downtown Napa.  There are lots of restaurants and wine tasting rooms within walking distance and the hotel serves as a great starting point for your weekend wine tasting adventures in Napa Valley.  The onsite drink and dining options are very nice as well and there is an outdoor terrace on the second floor called Mercantile Social that offers small bites and drinks.

During a typical hotel stay you walk into the lobby and front counter to check-in, but at Andaz it's a totally different concept and at first, it kind of threw me off.  The traditional hotel lobby has been replaced by a open communal space with a bar and lounge.  An Andaz employee greets you, pulls up your reservation on an iPad and offers you a seat and a complimentary drink.

Carneros Resort & Spa
Surrounded by rolling vineyards in a picturesque countryside setting, Carneros Resort and Spa offers a private retreat that delivers a relaxed and luxurious quintessential Napa experience. Carneros Resort and Spa is surrounded by 28 acres of grapevines, fruit trees and picturesque farmland and located a few miles southwest of Napa, California at what I like to refer to as the gateway to both Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley Wine Country.  From here you can explore the valleys’ superb vineyards, eateries, and wine tasting rooms.  In terms of location, the resort is a five minute drive to downtown Napa and a short 15 minute drive to downtown Sonoma Plaza.

The unique luxury resort isn't setup like your typical hotel and instead is spread out among 94 charming cottages and suites and six luxurious private homes clustered throughout the property footprint.  Carneros Residence accommodations provide all the comforts of home including a full kitchen, living room, expansive patio deck, multiple bedrooms and an outdoor patio with fireplace.  The decor of the entire property is inspired by Napa’s working countryside with a luxurious farm-style architecture and an indoor-outdoor feel.

Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa
The Napa Valley Marriott is the perfect family friendly hotel located at the gateway to Napa wine country.  After a long day of wine tasting and exploring Napa, our kids enjoyed the large luxurious swimming pool at this resort.  And after swimming, they enjoyed making smore’s in the  large fire pit lounge area.  Not to mention, hubby and I enjoyed some more wine :)

Meadowwood Napa Valley
All I can say is that this resort is absolutely stunning.  It felt like a home away from home.  The resort is very service oriented with top notch staff that make you feel right at home.  There are a total of 85 cottages, suites, and lodges nestled into a woodsy hillside of Napa.  What we really enjoyed was the outdoor terrace area where we enjoyed family dinner.  Some of the rooms also feature wood burning fireplaces which we got to use quite a bit since we visited during the cooler fall season.

Hotel Villagio
Hotel Villagio is a contemporary style hotel located in the small French-inspired town of Yountville (just 10 minutes away from Napa and definitely worth a visit!).  This beautiful resort offers amazing mountain views on one side of the resort and town views on the other side.  Most everything is within walking distance and to tell you the truth you don't really want to drive when in Yountville.  I think the whole experience of walking to the nearby cafe is whats beautiful about this area.  You literally feel as if you are walking within a small French village.

Vintage House
Sister property to the Hotel Villagio, Vintage House also offers a prime location within Yountville with easy access to several restaurants and cafes that are within walking distance.  This hotel has a chic, luxe vibe with a modern contemporary feel.  The property offers various rooms but also loft suites which are nice for larger families.

Bardessono Hotel & Spa
Bardessono Hotel & Spa is another hotel located in the heart of downtown Yountville.  This charming, modern-design luxury hotel that is just a five minute walk from the popular Bouchon Bakery.  One thing worth noting about this hotel is that it is one of only seven LEED Platinum certified hotels in the U.S.  Eco developers built the hotel using 100,000 square feet of salvaged wood.  The rooms are actually more personable with each one actually being a suite.

Solage, an Auberge Resort
And last but not least, is Solage Calistoga which is the definition of pure luxury the moment you pull into the resort.  The resort offers beautiful views of the lush vineyards and surrounding mountains.  Also, the 130-foot pool does not disappoint! Also, the resort offers onsite geothermal pools, where the water temperature can top 100 degrees!  This hotel is very convenient as it’s an easy bike ride or walk to downtown Calistoga.  The resort offers complimentary cruiser bikes which is a plus!

Okay, So Let’s Say You Don’t Want To Take The Kids On Your Napa Adventure? Need a Little Romantic Couples Getaway?

Las Alcobas, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Napa Valley
One of Napa Valley's newest hotels, the adult-only Las Alcobas Napa Valley, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is an upscale-casual luxury hotel that opened in 2017. The hillside location between vineyards and downtown St. Helena is perfect for a romantic couple’s wine getaway.  The property has a chic and contemporary design featuring private terraces with firepits, with some rooms even having an outdoor bathtub!  Now if that’s not romantic, I don’t know what is!

Another plus, is that the property is right next door to Beringer Vineyards with a new foot bridge connecting the two locations making it even more convenient for guests to go wine tasting next door.

So now that we have rounded up all of our favorite places to stay in Napa Valley, it’s time to start planning your next Napa adventure!  I hope this article helps because we are super passionate about helping our clients and readers start new adventures and get the best value for their money!
